How to Create a WiFi QR Code (Free, Guests Scan to Connect)

Updated 2026-06-01

A WiFi QR code lets guests join your network by scanning — no spelling out long passwords. It is perfect for cafés, offices, rentals, and homes. Here is how to make one for free.

Create your WiFi QR code

  1. Open the WiFi QR Code Generator.
  2. Enter your network name (SSID) and password.
  3. Choose the security type (usually WPA/WPA2).
  4. Download the QR code as a PNG and print or display it.

The code is generated in your browser, so your WiFi password is never uploaded.

How guests use it

Most modern iPhone and Android cameras detect a WiFi QR code automatically: point the camera at it, tap the prompt, and the phone joins the network.

Tips

  • Hidden network? Enable the hidden option when generating.
  • Print it nicely. Place the PNG on a small card near the entrance.
  • Other QR types. Need a contact card or a link? Try the vCard QR Generator or the general QR Code Generator. To read an existing code, use the QR Code Reader.

Frequently asked questions

Is my password safe? Yes. The QR code is generated locally in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.

Does it expire? No. The code encodes your network details directly, so it works as long as those details are valid.
