Split PDF Online — Extract Page Ranges into New Files
Pull chosen pages or ranges (1-3, 2,5,7) out of one PDF into a new document, so a 10-page file becomes the exact subset you need to send or keep.
When to use it
- Separating a multi-chapter report so each chapter is its own file.
- Removing a cover sheet or appendix before sending a document.
- Sharing only the two relevant pages of a long contract with a client.
- Breaking a scanned batch into one PDF per document.
About PDF Split
PDF Split takes a single PDF and lets you carve out the pages you want into a new document using page numbers and ranges. You give it a selection like 1-3 or 2,5,7 and it writes a fresh PDF containing only those pages in the order you listed them, leaving the original untouched. It is the tool for breaking a long report into chapters, dropping a cover or appendix, or sharing only the two pages a colleague actually asked for.
How to use this tool
- Upload a PDF file.
- Enter the pages you want, for example 1-3 or 2,5,7.
- Click Split PDF.
- Download the new PDF.
Examples
Source: report.pdf (10 pages) First selection: 1-3 Second selection: 4-10
report-1-3.pdf (3 pages) report-4-10.pdf (7 pages)
One input file becomes multiple outputs — run a selection, then run again for the next range.
Source: deck.pdf (12 pages) · Selection: 2,5,7
deck-2-5-7.pdf (3 pages, in that order)
Mix single pages and ranges; pages appear in the order you list them.
Tips & gotchas
- Pages are 1-based, so the first page is 1 — enter ranges like 1-3,5 to combine a range with single pages.
- The output keeps pages in the exact order you list, so 5,1,3 produces a reordered PDF, not a sorted one.
- One file goes in and you choose what comes out — to produce several parts, run the split once per range.
- Out-of-range pages are ignored; if your whole selection is invalid you will see an error instead of an empty file.

Frequently asked questions
What page range formats are accepted?+
You can mix ranges and single pages, such as 1-2,4 or 2,5,7. Pages are 1-based, and they come out in the order you list them.
Can I split one PDF into several files at once?+
Each split produces one output file from the pages you select. To create multiple parts — say 1-3 and 4-10 — run the tool once per range.
What if I enter pages that don't exist?+
Out-of-range pages are ignored, and if nothing valid remains you will see an error message instead of an empty PDF.
